Purchase a Photo and help feed a local unemployed restaurant worker!

“Rise and Shine!”

“Don’t complain! Do something about it.” Famous words my mother has repeated to me throughout my life… that I seem now to repeat to my own children.

Last Winter when our world came crashing down on us… When Covid first reared its ugly head and we all went into lockdown, we thought it would be a matter of weeks before we’d be set free. Weeks turned into months and during that time so many people in our communities lost their jobs and their businesses. The restaurant industry was hit especially hard and is still clinging to life.

So many of us wanted to help but felt useless. We were told to stay indoors. What could we do? It turns out that there wasn’t much. A couple of big hearted friends who are deeply connected to the restaurant industry started a fund-raiser called Food For Behind the Lines to help feed the families of out of work restaurant workers.

An e-cookbook was launched featuring many of the state’s most recognized and renown restaurants and chefs to help raise money for Food For Behind the Lines. It’s divine - trust me, I helped work on it! 100% of the book’s proceeds go to the fundraising efforts, and the link is here.

Now that I have established this site I have decided that there IS something that I can do to help. And so with each sale I will donate a portion of each sale directly to Food For Behind the Lines. I will be running this promotion through March, and possibly into spring. So if you’ve been wanting to purchase a photo but haven’t yet, now is the time to do so! Promotion applies to all photographs, sizes and and formats.

To learn more about Food for Behind the Lines read below

Food For Behind the Lines (FFBTL) is non-for-profit organization that focuses on the urgent need to provide food to our unemployed local CT restaurant workers struggling to feed themselves and their families hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Many of these staffers are ineligible for benefits (like food stamps, unemployment, stimulus checks, etc) and may also face long term unemployment in the changing landscape.  The restaurant industry faces many challenges in the future: restricted dining capacity, restaurant closures, fewer staff positions and mass layoffs throughout the industry.

Food For Behind The Lines works with local chefs and restaurant groups to identify those in need and then supports these workers through local, targeted food drives distributing boxes of donated and purchased foods for their families. In addition, these chefs help purchase food from their distributors at reduced rates and help secure food donations.

FFBTL has leveraged our relationships in the local and National food industry to enable us to create a pantry box feeding a family of four for a week for the low cost of $25. Our goal is to provide a support system for the Connecticut restaurant industry.

100% of donations for Food For Behind The Lines will go toward the purchase of boxed pantry goods.

Stephanie Webster, Editor in Chief for CTbites.com will be withdrawing the funds raised from this Go Fund Me directly into a dedicated business account. We will use 100% of these funds to pay for bulk pantry grocery boxes to be delivered to out of work restaurant industry workers and their families. These workers will be identified by the local Connecticut restaurant owners based on need.
